Yesterday, our students in grades 9–12 had the opportunity to hear from Laurie Poland from Hope House in Findlay, who spoke about the impact of poverty and homelessness in our communities. This presentation was part of Katie Hipsher’s Ag Business Passion Project.
Laurie shared the many different paths that can lead to homelessness, the resources available right here in our area, and how often we may not realize the challenges faced by those around us.
Students also participated in an activity that put them in the shoes of teenagers experiencing homelessness, where they had to make difficult decisions about everyday situations. It was eye-opening, informative, and truly meaningful.
A huge thank you to Laurie for taking the time to come speak with us and for helping our students better understand compassion, awareness, and the importance of community support.
