Throwback Thursday !
From the 1977 Northern Lites… halftime at the games wasn’t just about the action on the court, it was also about the famous cake raffles! Who remembers the excitement of hoping your ticket was the lucky one? Sweet memories of Polar Bear tradition!

Community Walk this Saturday!

Yesterday was the annual Living History Day for Hardin Northern Elementary. The History Brigade hosted living historians from across the state as they made history come alive through the various demonstrations and presentations. Presenters covered such topics as Civil War artillery, military signal guns, life as a fur trader on the Ohio frontier, the War of 1812 and its local connections, and interesting artifacts at the Hardin County Historical Museum.
We had a great turnout of high school students who put together their own Living History impressions for the day. Ms. Cross had students from her Nutrition class explore food and health from the Civil War Era. Gracie and Jayna portrayed Abe and Mary Lincoln. Kylynn, Schylee, Quinton, Ethan, Joslyn, and Sawyer portrayed various soldiers and women from the era. Kylie was a Civil War nurse.
Students in the History Brigade welcomed students to a variety of time periods. Kyler, Riley, Alex, and Evan discussed attending school in a vintage one-room schoolhouse. They used several materials from Mr. Foster’s collection of school memorabilia from the late 1800s. Fred and Bri discussed the women’s Suffrage Movement. Carly and Ali presented on the Salem Witch Trials. Madylyn, Katy, Leighton, and Tatum discussed the fashion of Presidents and their First Ladies. Ryliegh, Dilnaz, Gabe, Raina, Ava, and Addison relived the French Revolution and even brought cupcakes in honor of Marie Antoinette’s falsely alleged “Let them eat cake!”
